This book has as its starting point the journey of a young academic and his grandparents, survivors of the Holocaust. As an engine, the longing for knowledge of a past that can no longer be simply reported in just a few words. Following the paths taken by the author from Porto Alegre to Jerusalem, Budapest and Warsaw, we are led to suspect that his heritage encompasses not only the inventory of family memories and traditions, but also the characteristic gaps of what could not be said and remembered, a condition that calls for the constant reinvention of the past and of the heir, the writing and the inscription of a history of imperfect transmissions.
